Defending premiers Oxfords have reminded the NDWHA Premier League why they were the team to fear in 2018, downing The Entrance 8-nil in a landslide to take the top spot in the league just two weeks in.
The Entrance kept themselves in the game early on however, with keeper Jamie Bell delivering a number of desperate 1-on-1 saves in the opening quarter. The defence wasn’t to last long however, as Oxfords clicked up a gear in the second quarter.
Niamh Dixon and Kiam Small both netted two for the premiers, while Natalie Strawhorn, Amy Stewart, Ellen Seaniger, and Phoebe Bloink-Hollier scored once each for the victors.

Elsewhere on the weekend, Kaitlin Duck scored two to confirm Souths’ 2-nil victory over Uni, while Avoca Erina came on top in a sweltering heats on the coast. Yasmin Skene scored two early for Regals, before Jamie Newman and Cassidy Gallagher levelled the scores for the southern squad.
The Avoca Erina duo netted again in the second half, and the home side drew their score out to 5-2, before Skene added one more consolation goal to claim her hat-trick in the 5-3 defeat.
Finally, Tigers defeated Central 3-2, with a three-goal onslaught in the opening half putting the eventual winners ahead by enough to close out the win. Central came close in the final quarter, bagging two, but the blistering heat proved too much for both sides as the match dragged on.
Next weekend sees all NDHWA Premier League games travel to the Central Coast on Saturday, April 13, due to the Hunter Academy Games in Newcastle.
Tigers will also face Souths at 9pm on Monday, April 15.
