Belmont’s Jessica Pickering has returned home as a Youth Olympic Silver Medallist, after delivering a series of clean routines in Buenos Aires earlier this month.

Pickering, who recently turned 17, qualified into second place and entered the final against China’s Fan Xinyi, who was the top seed heading into the last bout.

Pickering suffered a 0.200 penalty in the final but it did not cost her a place as her total score of 51.645 was short of Xinyi’s 52.560. Russia’s Vera Beliankina ran third with a score of 51.435,

Jessica, who trains at Eastlake Trampoline Sports with Australian trampoline coach Brett Austin, was Australia and the Oceania’s sole representative at the Games.
