Sophie Nenadovic is just 20 years old, but has already made 34 appearances for the Jets.

The Newcastle Jets have continued their slew of off-season signings and retentions with the announcement that three more familiar faces would be taking to the field in red and blue in the 2018/19 campaign.

Claire Coelho, Sophie Nenadovic, and Clare Wheeler have all confirmed their return to the Jets ranks, and club coach Craig Deans has confirmed the local trio coming on board all but finalises the team’s off-season recruitment.

He also said he was especially pleased with the retention of three players who have come through the Newcastle academy system, and said recruiting from within was “important” for W-League clubs.

Nenadovic will again strengthen Newcastle’s midfield.

“It’s important we continue to promote local players and they’re at the forefront of an exciting crop of youngsters coming from Newcastle and Northern New South Wales,” he said.

“They’ve each spent plenty time in our Academy system and it’s great to see them reap the rewards of the work they’ve put in over a number of years.”

He specifically pointed out Wheeler – who claimed the Cheryl Salisbury Medal in the 2017/18 season – as an “outstanding” pick up.

“Clare was huge for us in the middle of the park,” he said. “[The trio are all] excellent young players who will again be important to us and I’m expecting they’ll take another step in their development this season.”

The re-signing news comes just days after Inspirations Paint re-joined the club as a key shirt sponsor, agreeing to three-years on the front of the playing jersey.

The deal will see the national paint retailer on the front of the Club’s Hyundai A-League Away and Alternate playing strips until the end of the 2020/21 season.
