Maya Stewart has exploded into the rugby scene in recent months.

Newcastle’s Maya Stewart continues to see her rugby stock rising, as she joins 46 other established and new talents in the the Super W training squad for NSW, just days after being named in the Uni 7s Series Dream Team.

Stewart – who will be joined in the NSW Womens preliminary squad by veteran player Katrina Barker – shone across the five Uni 7s tournaments in recent months, quickly becoming a focal point of University of New England’s offence.

Disappointment raised its ugly head in the last of the five series, as Stewart suffered an elbow injury in their third outing, but the now-slinged arm won’t keep her from aiming up for the Super W run-on squad.

Barker is also on the comeback path from a dislocated elbow, an injury she suffered in the Super W grand final last April that saw NSW run out 16-13 victors over Queensland.

Both Newy talents will play for The Waratahs at the Scone sevens from November 3.
